Laborer

A Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Background

You are the backbone of society: building cities by cobbling the streets, pouring the foundations of houses and workspaces, creating wooden frames and laying bricks to build up walls, and working on the production lines that feed all its inhabitants. Without you, a city would come to a standstill. It is hard work and it leaves you tired at the end of the day. But there is always more work and you seldomly find yourself without a job.

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics and either Perception or Survival

Tool Proficiencies: Two types of Artisan Tools relevant to your job

Equipment: A set of both artisan tools, a knife, 50 feet of hempen rope, and a belt pouch containing 10 GP.

Feature: Never out of Work

No matter where you go, you know where to find the person who will give you a day or a week of work for lodging and food, and a little bonus on top of that. In addition, people you work with tend to include you in all the ins and outs of your work area. At the end of a shift you can make an Intelligence check, adding double your proficiency bonus to see if you gained relevant knowledge on a subject you were interested in when you started your shift. The knowledge must be relevant to your surroundings and the result will be on a level that your fellow laborers would know.
